Different Types of Courses:

Each province has its own set of regulations and standards for its food safety or food handling course. Although the majority of these basic food safety certifications are nationally recognized it is important for candidates to register for the correct course in his or her province. The following is a list of the courses offered in each province:

  • Food Handler Certification – Offered in Manitoba and Saskatchewan
  • FoodSafe Level 1 – Offered in British Columbia and majority of Canadian Provinces.

Registration:

Registration can be done quickly and easily through our training providers secure on-line registration systems. To register for a course in your region select your location from the main or side menu. After selecting your location you will be directed to one of our training providers. Select the course date, time and specific location of your required course. Complete the registration form and prepay to be guaranteed a spot in the course. Accepted methods of payment include debit, credit and PayPal. Our training providers are flexible in terms of other payment methods as well.

Course Length:

The length of a basic food safety or food handler course depends on your location and the level of certification. Typically the courses are 8 hours in length are can be completed in either one or two days.

Certification:

Candidates that successfully complete the course will be issued a food safety, FoodSafe, or food handlers certificate that is provincially recognized and in most cases, nationally recognized. This certificate does not expire, however, candidates may be required to renew certification based on requirements from the health inspector(s) or regulations. Re-certification every 5 years is recommended in some provinces.

Course Cost:

The cost of a basic food safety or food handlers course varies depending on your province and level of certification. Prices range from 55 to 85 dollars for basic courses and as high as 125 dollars for advanced courses.
